On August 23, the 5th China Regional iGEM (International Genetic Engineering Machinery Competition) Exchange Conference, CCiC (Conference of China iGEMer Community) successfully Concluded at the Shenzhen Institutes of Advanced Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences.

The International Genetic Engineering Machine Competition (iGEM) is the highest-level international university student science and technology competition in the field of synthetic biology. It was founded by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the United States and involves cross-disciplinary cooperation in biology, mathematics, and computer. The competition status and research results receive the attention of top academic magazines such as Science and Nature every year, while CCiC is a national exchange conference organized by Chinese iGEM students.

The theme of this CCiC conference is "Synbiopunk", and 70 teams from more than 60 universities across the country showed their entries. They play a multi-disciplinary cross-fusion background, combine information technology and biotechnology, use standard biological modules to build genetic circuits, and build effective mathematical models to achieve the prediction, manipulation and measurement of delicate and complex artificial biological systems.
