Yin YUAssociate Professor

The goal of the lab is to develop effective treatments to solve clinical problems like trauma, inflammatory disease and organ transplantation.

Dr. Yu is an Associate Professor of Institute of Synthetic Biology in Shenzhen Institute of Advanced Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Iowa in 2015, and postdoctoral research at Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts General Hospital from 2015 to 2018. Dr. Yu Yin has published a number of papers in Arthritis and Rheumatology, Lab on Chip, Scientific Reports, Tissue Engineering, Biofabrication, Biomaterials, Nanotechnology, and etc.. His research have been highly recognized by experts wordwide, and have been repeatedly cited in Nature, Chemical Reviews, Advanced Drug Delivery Reviews, Biomaterials and other top journals nearly 1,600 times, with Hi-Index 18. He has won the "Gold Award for Best Paper" by the International Cartilage Regeneration Society and "Outstanding Young Scientist" by Osteoarthritis Cartilage Society International. Dr. Yu has been awarded the Shenzhen Overseas High-level Talent Peacock Program and served as the project leader of the Shenzhen Peacock Team. His research mainly focuses on the interface of synthetic biology and regenerative medicine, especially in the fields of biomaterials, cell therapy, tissue engineering and etc.. At the same time, Dr. Yu is highly involved in clinical translation and commercialization of his research. He owns 4 PCT patents that have been granted or are under review, and co-founded two startup companies for developing regenerative therapeutics and medical devices.
