Synthetic Evolution

Dr. Yi Xiao, researcher and doctoral supervisor of Institute of synthetic biology, Shenzhen Institute of advanced technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences. In the past five years, Dr. Yi has published as corresponding author in such journals as Science Advances, eLife, Molecular Biology and Evolution. Yi lab focuses on Synthetic Evolution (SynEvo). That is, using synthetic biology technology to evolve, under artificial conditions, cell or macromolecular phenotypes that have not been observed in nature. Some of these new phenotypes may deepen our understanding of life, and others are expected to solve practical problems in medicine or industry.
